Research Foci

River restoration is a long-term project, which requires various material and human resources to achieve the main goal – healthy river environment with a high level of biodiversity. For quite some time river restoration was organized solely by government officials and engineers, but later great impact of local communities was noticed. This research focuses on an improvement of knowledge of the interaction between projects of river restoration and local communities. Usually this interaction is behind public a participation term. Since the middle of the last century, there has been ongoing discussion on public participation. Nevertheless, there are still a lot questions unanswered regarding this issue. The research addresses the question of how to implement long-term sustainable projects using support, ideas and critics from local communities.
