5+5 China-Germany High Level Dialogue
Cooperation between China and Germany under the Carbon Neutrality | July 28, 2022 | Webinar via Zoom
In cooperation with its long standing academic partner the Wuhan University, UDE’s IN-EAST hosted the first “5+5 China-Germany High Level Dialogue” on July 28, 2022. In times of increasing political frictions, the format brings together five renowned scientists each from China and Germany to engage in a frank and open minded exchange on a topic of particular societal relevance for the two countries. At this first event, the discussions focused on the challenges of green transformation and the path to carbon neutrality. These issues are not only essential for realizing the SDG agenda and mitigating global climate change; the measures taken in China and Germany also have a decisive impact on achieving the goals on a global scale. Participating in the dialogue from the Chinese side were: Prof. Maosheng Duan, Tsinghua University, Beijing; Prof. Shaozhou Qi, Wuhan University; Prof. Ye Qi, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Prof. Libo Wu, Fudan University, Shanghai; Prof. Xiaoling Zhang, City University of Hong Kong. The German perspective was represented by: Prof. Dr. Veronika Grimm, University of Nuremberg-Erlangen and Member of the “Five Wise of Economics” (Wirtschaftsweise) – Advisory Board to the German Government; Prof. Dr. Martin Kesternich, University of Kassel and Center for European Economic Research (ZEW); Prof Dr. Andreas Löschel, University of Bochum and Alfried Krupp Senior Fellow at the Alfried Krupp College of Science in Greifswald; Prof. Dr. Anja Senz, University of Heidelberg; Prof. Dr. Markus Taube, University of Duisburg-Essen.
