research assistant within the CRC 1242 (w/m/d, Nr. 277-24)
salary group 13 TV-L

We are pleased to announce the opening of a PhD position within our TWIST team at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the framework of a newly proposed project “Dynamics of Topological Electromagnetic Excitations” within the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center CRC 1242 entitled “Non-Equilibrium Dynamics of Condensed Matter in the Time Domain”.

Topology offers unique insights into the physics of materials, and topological excitations often lead to intriguing emergent phenomena. Driving a metal such as gold out of equilibrium, for instance by appropriate laser-pulse excitations, generates collective electron density patterns whose corresponding plasmonic fields can obey topological field configurations.
