The flow characteristics of e.g. ships and airplanes profiles are examined in wind tunnels. A disadvantage in this approach is that the experiments with the corresponding models are accomplished only in firmly clamped positions. By employing a parallel-kinematic system and thin wires/beams, which are only loaded by pulling forces, such models can be positioned and examined in any arbitrary angle with respect to the direction of flow. Thus the temporal expenditure is substantially reduced.
