Sydney born writer, artist and filmmaker Philip McLaren is a proud descendant of the Kamilaroi, the indgenous population of the New South Wales, Australia. He has published five internationally acclaimed novels to date, including Fresh Water, Stolen Land (which won the David Unaipon Award in 1993), Scream Black Murder (1995), Lightning Mine (1999), There'll be New Dreams (2001) and Murder in Utopia (2007).
On Friday, 7 October McLaren will give a lecture on the Aboriginal people of Australia and read from, as well as talk about, his works. There will also be time for questions.
