The University of Duisburg-Essen is one of the largest universities in Germany with approximately 40,000 students enrolled, offering a broad academic spectrum with numerous opportunities to participate in international programs. It is one university with two campuses located in two cities of the Ruhr area; Duisburg and Essen.
In various disciplines Duisburg-Essen is amongst the ten leading universities in terms of research performance.
The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises the Institute of Political Science, the Department of Sociology, the Institute for Development and Peace (INEF), the Institute for Work, Skills and Training (IAQ) as well as the associated research Institute of East Asian Studies and offers a wide range of study programs in the field of Political Science, Sociology and East Asian Studies.
