Double Transformation – Effects of Ecological and Digital Change on Production Companies in Energy-intensive Industries
In the wake of climate change, many companies are facing increasing pressure to transform. This applies above all to energy-intensive sectors and the energy industry. The energy and climate targets challenge the industry. It must make its production environmentally compatible and sustainable. At the same time, the sectors of industrial production are facing change in the course of digitalisation. The use of modern information and communication technology is constantly advancing in industrial companies, and intelligent, digitally networked systems and production processes are increasingly being tested and implemented.
Against this background, the research project "Double Transformation – Effects of Ecological and Digital Change on Production Companies in Energy-intensive Industries" will conduct interviews with representatives of management and works councils from various sectors in the organisational area of the IG BCE. Among other things, the interviews focused on the effects of the double transformation on corporate strategies, labour standards, qualification measures and the work of interest groups.
