The 10th AILA-Europe Junior Researcher Meeting in Applied Linguistics will be hosted by the University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen, Germany.
The JRM 2018 will take place from September 10th to 11th and will focus on Research(ing) Cultures in Applied Linguistics.
The two-day Junior Researcher Meeting allows early career applied linguists to present their research and network in an interactive and informal international environment. ‘Junior Researchers’ include those working on their Master’s and PhD theses, as well as those who have graduated within the last three years. At the conference, each session will have designated senior researchers as commentators to foster questions and discussion. Presenters can choose between different formats, i.e. shorter Lightning Papers as well as longer talks.
We welcome paper presentations and posters in the following areas:
- Language Varieties
- Researching Cultures of Teaching and Learning
- CLIL, Inter- and Transcultural Aspects etc.
- Cultures of Research: Focus on Methods
- Language Use in the Media
- The Language of Sub-Cultures & Language Change
- Regional and Minority Languages Teaching
- Transcultural Communication
- Language Politics & Policies

Multilingualism
Besides the conference focus, papers on other areas of applied linguistics are welcome. A paper may present also work in progress.
