Your main tasks
We are looking for an outstanding, internationally recognised personality to represent the discipline in research and teaching. The application focus should be on at least one, preferably several of the following areas:
- Ultra-high frequency, ultra-wideband and ultra-massive MIMO systems
- Joint communications and sensing Body Centric Wireless Communication
- Energy-efficient communication (green communications, energy harvesting)
- Use of AI and ML for highly complex transmission systems and for optimising the network structure, especially for ad-hoc networks
Publications in peer-reviewed scientific and relevant journals, patents, publications in relevant conference proceedings as well as experience in the competitive acquisition of self-conceived or managed research projects, preferably DFG-funded or internationally comparable projects, and their successful implementation are expected.
Opportunities for co-operation within the faculty, the university and the University Alliance Ruhr must be described. The willingness to participate in academic committees is expected. The ability to co-operate in international research is also required. Management experience in the field of research and/or development is desirable. The same applies to experience in industrial research or in corresponding co-operations for the technological implementation of research outcomes with industry.
The position is part of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Electrical and Information Engineering, NanoEngineering, Medical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and International Studies in Engineering and teaches, among other things, the fundamentals of communications engineering (system theory, statistical signal processing) and advanced methods of communications engineering (e.g. estimation and detection theory, machine learning). In addition to lectures and seminars, the teaching programme will also include practice-oriented formats such as student projects. Participation in the further development of the study programs is required.
The University of Duisburg-Essen places particular emphasis on teaching quality. Therefore, candidates must outline their didactic concepts, also taking the profile of the University of Duisburg-Essen into consideration.
