The working group Organic and Supramolecular Chemistry, headed by Prof. Niemeyer, is part of the department of Organic Chemistry in the faculty of Chemistry. It counts with 27 professorships and more than 240 scientific researchers at the largest chemistry faculties activities in German-speaking countries.

Your main tasks

  • You will work on the research project “Interlocked molecules for Organocatalysis”.
  • Within this project, you will synthesize, characterize and use novel organocatalysts for enantioselective catalysis.
  • One focus will be the synthesis and application of catalysts based on interlocked molecules such as rotaxanes and catenanes.
  • You will have the possibility to improve your skills in modern organic synthesis, in the analysis of supramolecular interactions and in organocatalysis. This will include the use of modern analytical methods, such as 1D- and 2D-NMR, MS, XRD, UV/Vis, HPLC and titration experiments.
  • Further tasks include the writing of manuscripts for publications and the presentation of the results at national and international conferences.

Your profile

  • You are passionate about Organic Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry and Catalysis? Then we are looking forward to your application! 
  • You need a degree (Master/Diplom, min. 4 years) in chemistry or a related field.
  • You should have a strong background in Organic Synthesis.
  • Additional experience in the areas of Supramolecular Chemistry and Organocatalysis are helpful.
