R is a powerful programming language and statistical environment that is free to use and offers extensive data analysis and graphical visualization capabilities. This course takes participants from the initial introduction to R to the basics needed to further develop their skills independently or in subsequent R courses. In terms of content, the course covers the basics of programming in R, handling files, filtering and further manipulation of data, and can be extended to include basics of visualization and modeling. The course consists of short lecture sections, live coding, and many hands-on exercises to directly apply your new learning.
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of R; computer with the latest version of R and RStudio (participants will receive installation instructions before the course begins).
Dates: currently no new dates
Carpentries
The Carpentries format aims to impart basic knowledge on three different IT topics, e.g. programming languages, data structures and data management, in a two-day workshop or in individual modules. This can be further worked on individually.
Workshops are offered in the areas of data science (Data Carpentry), software programming (Software Carpentry) and also specifically for libraries (Library Carpentry).
The Carpentry workshops take place online or as a face-to-face event.
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge; participants will receive installation instructions prior to the start of the course, if necessary.
Dates: On request, we can offer Carpentries as a 1-2 day event or individual modules in presence or online, in German or English.
