Invitation from the DSC

Rethinking "Never again"

  • 02.04.2025

'Never again!’ is an appeal that has been extended to 'Never again is now' in view of the right-wing ideas that have been expressed more and more openly in Germany in recent years. Everyone agrees on what this means. Or do we not? The Diversity Support Center (DSC) invites you to an open, bilingual discussion: on 7 April on the Essen campus (German) and on 9 April in Duisburg (English). Registration is requested.

The collective understanding of 'never again' differs from what is discussed online, in political discourse and in different communities. How does this affect our lives and sense of belonging on campus?

The Diversity Support Center invites everyone to participate in an open and honest discussion and to work together to create a space where different perspectives can be heard and understood. A space that respects the dignity of all and is based on a desire to learn from and with each other.

There is only one condition for all participants: Everyone expresses themselves respectfully, without the intention of offending others or dominating the discussion.

Both events will be moderated by Yariv Lapid and Monika Hübscher. Lapid is an experienced moderator of discussions about different perspectives on the Holocaust and its relevance to us today. He is a trained historian and educator. Monika Hübscher is the UDE's contact person for Antisemitism and the Middle East conflict. She is an interdisciplinary Antisemitism researcher and holds a Master's degree in Holocaust Studies.
