Excursion to Edinburgh
The Edinburgh International Book Festival
In the past few years we've offered two student-excursions to the Edinburgh International Book Festival (2010 and 2013). During a week-long stay in Scotland's vibrant capital, which is also UNESCO's city of literature, students were able to meet and listen to a variety of authors discussing their works, among them Neil Gaiman, Hanif Kureishi, Roddy Doyle, Alexander McCall Smith and Nicci French. We got our books signed, bravely climbed the city's 'mountain' Arthur's Seat, explored the castle, learned about Edinburgh's history during the 'Literary Pub Crawl', got a taste of Haggis and fried Mars bars, visited the Scottish Parliament, and undertook excursions to near-by St Andrews and the Scottish Highlands.
If you would like to keep updated about possible further excursions to the Edinburgh Book Festival, please contact Dr. Stefanie Caeners or Dr. Claudia Drawe.
