BIOME - Shared Facilities
Core Facilities at the Faculty of Medicine
At Universitätsklinikum Essen there is a wide range of facilities and equipment on offer which can be used for one’s research purposes either in the form of a service or on a cooperation basis.
Central services at the Faculty of Medicine include:
- Imaging Platform
- Biochip Laboratory
- Transgene Unit
- DNA Sequencing
- Genome Sequencing
The colleagues at the various medical clinics or institutes have agreed to share their facilities with their fellow researchers upon request. So, should a BIOME member suddenly need, say, a control antibody, a plasmid or a cell line etc., then they can get in touch with the other research staff by e-mailing them at:
Imaging Center Essen (IMCES)
The facility brings together state-of-the-art equipment and provides consultation and training for:
- Light Microscopy
- In Vivo and Intravital Imaging
- Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting (FACS)
- Electron Microscopy
- Image Analysis
These services are available to all researchers at Universitätsklinikum Essen and the University of Duisburg-Essen.
Core Facilities at the Centre for Medical Biotechnology (ZMB)
The ZMB offers BIOME’s researchers access to the following central services:
- Animal Models of Diseases
- Imaging
- NMR Spectroscopy
- Pathology, Tissue Library
- Genomics and Proteomics
- Drug Discovery, Toxicology, Clinical Trials.
