Professor Sebastian Schlücker from the Department of Physical Chemistry was presented with a SAS Fellow Award by the Society of Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) at the 50th FACSS/SciX conference in Reno, Nevada, USA, for his contributions to the advancement of spectroscopy and its applications. He was the only European to receive this award, along with a US-American and an Australian. The main field of work of the Schlücker working group is molecular spectroscopy. In the development and application of innovative laser spectroscopic methods for basic and applied research, the focus is on techniques of vibrational Raman spectroscopy and microscopy/imaging with high molecular information content, the so-called "molecular fingerprint".
