Keynote Ana Schwartz is an assistant professor in the English Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Her first book, Subjective Knowledge: American Settlement and the Making of Modern Sincerity, is under contract with the Omohundro Institute for Early American History and Culture at the University of North Carolina Press. She is working on a second book, a social history of the soul. Her latest essay, “Imperative Reading: Brothertown and Sister Fowler” is forthcoming in American Literature in 2022.
