After his studies in political science and history, he worked, researched and taught as a pedagogical assistant with young adults in the transition from school to work.
In addition, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Duisburg-Essen, at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf and at the Cologne University of Technology. In his dissertation he dealt with issues of political and scientific-theoretical representation. He also conducted research in projects on the socio-spatial coordination of social services and on networking strategies in the transition from school to work.
In his current project, he is investigating how migration and socio-political actors at the local level shape refugee policies and how local social policies affect refugees.
