jCS Ruhr 2010
Last year's jCS-Ruhr was held in Bochum and offered with over 60 participants, 42 poster presentations and seven talks from various fields of chemistry a reasonable opportunity to network with other chemists and talk to them about their own research. The symposium was rounded off by a plenary lecture by Professor Anthony G M Barrett, from the Imperial College in London, entitled "Recent Advances in the Total Synthesis of Bioactive Natural Products", which enabled deep insights into his work.
As part of the symposium three posterprizes, a prize for the best oral presentation, and an audience prize were awarded. The jury, consisting of professors and doctors of the four participating sites, granted the award for best presentation to Maria Teresa Oliveira from Mülheim and assigned the first prize to the poster by Stephanie Neuhaus from Bochum. The audience chose the poster of Michael Lutter from Dortmund for the best. Also Johannes Hofmann from Essen and Matthew Gawron from Dortmund received posterprizes, awarded by Dennis Grossman and Ute Michels in their capacity as Chairpersons.
The organizing JCFs send a big “Thank you” to all participants and helping hands in 2010 and are looking forward to the upcoming, second jCS-Ruhr in Essen in 2011.
