Sonja Uebing, M.Sc. was awarded second prize of "GACM 2019 Best Poster Award"
Every two years, the GACM - German Association for Computational Mechanics - organizes the "GACM Colloquium on Computational Mechanics", which offers young academic and industrial researchers the opportunity to exchange ideas and build a professional network. They present their current results in posters and oral presentations. As part of the "8th GACM Colloquium on Computational Mechanics 2019" a jury, headed by GACM president Prof. Kaliske (TU Dresden), awarded the best three posters. The second price was awarded to Sonja Uebing, M.Sc. for her poster "On the stress development in a hot formed cylindrical specimen including phase transformation during cooling“.
Award for Prof. Jörg Schröder, Yasemin Özmen, Prof. Martin Lang and Marcel Pelz on EdMedia + Innovative Learning 2019 Conference in Amsterdam
At the conference in June 2019, Marcel Pelz and Prof. Martin Lang from the Institute of Technology and Didactics of Technique presented their research work. Their talk related to the topic “Interactive Online Modules as a Digital Support for Students in the Introductory Phase of Civil Engineering” is based on initial findings of the BMBF joint project FUNDAMENT (Förderung des individuellen Lernerfolges mittels digitaler Medien im Bauingenieurstudium). The corresponding paper of the contributors Marcel Pelz, Prof. Martin Lang (Technology and Didactics of Technique – University of Duisburg-Essen), Yasemin Özmen, Prof. Jörg Schröder (Institute of Mechanics – University of Duisburg-Essen), Jun.-Prof. Felix Walker and Prof. Ralf Müller (Technical University of Kaiserslautern) was awarded as the “Best Paper by Country: Germany” by the organizers of the conference.
The "Duisburger Sparkassenpreis" was awarded to Dr.-Ing. Lisa Scheunemann
Since 1993, the Sparkasse Duisburg annually awards the "Sparkassenpreis" for outstanding graduates of the University Duisburg-Essen and honors four Bachelor- and Master theses as well as four dissertations. Dr.-Ing. Lisa Scheunemann received the prize for her dissertation on "Scale-bridging of Elasto-Plastic Microstructures using Statistically Similar Representative Volume Elements". In an awarding ceremony, the awardees were bestowed with the prizes including a total prize money of 12,000 Euro by the chairman of Sparkasse Duisburg, Dr. Joachim Bonn, vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Ulrich Radtke and senior mayor Sören Link.
The innovation prize for engineering sciences 2018 of Sparkasse Niederrhein was awarded to Dr.-Ing. Lisa Scheunemann
The Sparkasse Niederrhein annually awards two prizes for outstanding and application-oriented dissertations and master theses in cooperation with the friends' association for engineering sciences of University of Duisburg-Essen. The awarded dissertations and master theses are honored with 2,500 Euro, and 1,500 Euro, respectively. This year, the pize was divided. The jury selected the dissertation thesis of Dr.-Ing. Lisa Scheunemann. entitled "Scale-bridging of Elasto-Plastic Microstructures using Statistically Similar Representative Volume Elements" .
Matthias Labusch, M.Sc. received SEMC 2016 Young Researcher Award
Within the scope of the "The Sixth International Conference on Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Computation" in Capetown, South Africa, the contribution "Multiscale homogenization of magneto-electric porous two-phase composites" of Matthias Labusch was awarded as one of three award winner.

Admittance of Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani to the "Junges Kolleg" of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts 2013
The members of the "Junges Kolleg" are thematically, financially and ideally supported. They obtain a yearly fellowship of 10,000 Euro. Prerequisite for the membership are a dissertation and further outstanding scientific achievements at a university or other research facility in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani and Dr.-Ing. Alexander Schwarz are admitted to the "Global Young Faculty 2011"
The Global Young Faculty enables about 50 selected young researchers at the universities and non-university research facilities in the Ruhr-area to work together in interdisciplinary groups. For this purpose the "Stiftung Mercator" provides 650.000 EUR for the workgroups and individual travel expenses of 5.000 EUR for each member.
Karl Steeger M.Sc. awarded the second price of the “GACM Best Poster Award 2011”
Within the scope of a poster presentation of the 4th GACM Colloquium in Dresden the “GACM Best Poster Award” has been granted. In this context, the jury consisting of the main lecturer, the president of the GACM Prof. Wriggers (Leibniz University Hanover) and the president of the colloquium Prof. Kaliske (TU Dresden) awarded the three best posters. The second price has been achieved by Karl Steeger, M. Sc. with his poster "A Weighted Least-Squares Mixed Finite Element Formulation for Quasi-Incomplressible Elastodynamics".
Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani obtains Heinz Maier-Leibnitz-Preis 2010
Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani obtains this year's "Heinz Maier-Leibnitz-Preis" for outstanding research achievement. The awarding takes place at the "Haus der deutschen Welle" in Bonn on May, 20th. Details can be found here: DFG press release
GAMM awards the Richard-von-Mises-Preis 2009 to Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani
The "Richard-von-Mises-Preis" 2009 of the Gesellschaft für angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik (GAMM e.V.) is awarded to Dr.-Ing. Daniel Balzani for his scientific achievements on the field "Polyconvex strain energy functions and their application in the area of composite structures and bio materials" at the GAMM annual meeting 2009 in Danzig, Poland.
