STRALI - Strategic Charging Infrastructure Planning for Urban Transportation Electrification
An expansion of the charging infrastructure is necessary to promote electric mobility. The distribution of charging points can influence the steering effect and a strategic, resource-efficient optimization of traffic flows. The research project "STRALI" will investigate the distribution of charging points in the city of Essen, Germany, in order to enable cities and municipalities to plan charging infrastructure on the basis of multi-criteria data collection and analysis. With the help of suitable web-based applications, the planning of charging infrastructure will be made usable for a targeted, resource-efficient control of traffic flows in the future. A web-based charging infrastructure planning tool is used to control traffic flows according to pre-defined criteria based on the interests of mobility users. The combination of empirical data with secondary and technology-based data from tracking applications will provide an improved database for a subsequent street-level traffic model. Finally, the resulting traffic flow simulation data will be incorporated into a new planning tool to be developed, which will be used to validate the extent to which mobility behavior can be influenced by strategic, multi-criteria charging infrastructure planning.
