The Centre for Semiconductor Technology and Optoelectronics
The centre, completed in 1998, is divided into two parts, a clean room building and an office/laboratory building. They are connected at right angles and are used jointly by the two chairs BHE and OE. The 4-storey cleanroom building faces east-west, the 3-storey office/lab building with a basement faces north-south. There is a photovoltaic system on the flat roof, the energy from which is used directly for the electrical consumers without intermediate storage.

The Centre for Semiconductor Technology and Optoelectronics (ZHO, building LT) is located on the Duisburg campus of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), close (1.5 km) to the city centre of Duisburg and about 25 km from Düsseldorf airport.
You can get to Duisburg easily by plane, train or car:
- by plane: Düsseldorf International Airport is 25 km away from Duisburg and offers regular direct connections to all major cities in Europe, the USA and Asia. Train journeys to Duisburg main station usually take less than 10 minutes.
- by train: Intercity trains serve Duisburg throughout the day, and there are a number of other regional train connections. From Duisburg main station, take tram 901 in the direction of Mülheim to the Zoo/Uni stop or take a taxi from the main station (costs: approx. 8 €).
- by car: Duisburg can be reached by car from the north or south via the A3, from the west or east via the A40. At the exit "Duisburg-Kaiserberg" keep left and follow Carl-Benz-Straße in the direction of Zoo/Universität.
