International Symposium „Phenotypic Therapy and Immune Escape in Cancer“
Clinical Research Unit 337 – PhenoTImE
Thursday, 16 January 2025
The International Symposium "Phenotypic Therapy and Immune Escape in Cancer", hosted by the Clinical Research Unit KFO 337 (PhenoTImE) on January 16, 2025, was a resounding success, receiving highly positive feedback from the scientific community.
With 94 participants, including numerous external guests, the symposium provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange and networking. The modern Funke Event Center in Essen served as an ideal venue for this event, fostering a productive atmosphere for high-level discussions.
Renowned international guest speakers from Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United States, and Germany presented cutting-edge findings on therapy resistance and immune escape in cancer. The early-career researchers of KFO 337 showcased their impressive results through engaging flash talks and poster presentations, focusing on the mechanisms driving non-genetic therapy and immune resistance in melanoma, pancreatic cancer, and glioblastoma. These dynamic formats facilitated stimulating discussions and inspired new collaborations, particularly during networking breaks and the poster sessions.
This symposium marked the conclusion of two successful funding periods of KFO 337, a Clinical Research Unit funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Over the past six years, KFO 337 has made substantial contributions to oncology, advancing the understanding of phenotypic therapy and immune resistance in cancer.
