How to reach us

By train

The closest train station is Duisburg Hbf, which is very well connected to the railway network. From there you can take tram 901 (direction Mülheim) till Zoo/Universität.

More details: To get to the tram station after disembarking from the train at Duisburg Hbf, do not use the main exit but follow the platform to the North. At the end of the platform you'll find escalators leading you to the street level. There you will see the "U"-sign for the subway/tram. Before entering the underground station you should buy a ticket (Preisstufe A, price category A) at one of the machines, unless it is already included in the train ticket. Take the subway/tram no. 901, direction "Mülheim" or "Zoo/Universität" (first underground platform, Gleis 3). Get off at the third stop "Zoo/Universität". You are now on Mülheimer Straße, see map below. Look for the university sign, which is to the right.

We are located in building MG, fourth floor, rooms MG 480-490.

Alternatively, you could leave the main station at the exit "Ostausgang" and take a taxi or one of the busses 924/926 till "Uni Nord". If you're in the mood you can as well walk down Mülheimer Straße (20 mins).

By airplane

The closest airport is Dusseldorf (code DUS), the third largest hub in Germany. Duisburg is connected by frequent regional trains (15-30 min).

More details: At the airport take the Sky Train shuttle to the airport train station and buy a Nahverkehr (local traffic) ticket (VRR, Preisstufe B/price category B, about 6 €); tickets are also available at the waiting platform of the Sky Train). Take one of the many northbound regional trains (RE, RB or S-Bahn) to Duisburg Hbf (about 15 min for RE/RB, 30 min for S-Bahn), and follow the instructions above.

A taxi costs about 40€ (about 30-40 min).

By car

Traveling from the North or South on the autobahn A3, at Autobahnkreuz (highway crossing) Duisburg-Kaiserberg proceed towards Essen. Still within the area of the crossing, take the exit DU-Kaiserberg. If traveling from the East or West on the autobahn A40, also take the exit DU-Kaiserberg.

At the traffic light, turn left into Carl-Benz-Straße, direction Zoo/Universität and follow the street. After crossing a bridge you will arrive at the parking lot of the university, from where you can reach area M by foot. We are located in building MG, fourth floor.

Hotel Friederichs

The Hotel Friederichs is located directly at the main train station (Duisburg Hbf). Take the eastern exit ("Ostausgang"), i.e. the direction opposite to the city center. You will find the Hotel on the opposite side of the street, at Neudorfer Straße 33-35.

IBIS hotel

The IBIS Hotel is located directly at the main train station (Duisburg Hbf). Take the western exit ("Westausgang") to the city center. Turn right immediately after leaving the station and walk for about 100 meters.
