Benefits for members of the University of Duisburg-Essen

  • The University Duisburg-Essen has concluded a Read & Publish contract with the publisher Springer as part of the DEAL Agreement
  • The agreement covers both hybrid journals and genuine Open Access journals
  • Author fees (APCs) of corresponding authors from UDE are financed and paid centrally from UDE. Invoices are processed by the University Library.

 

Requirements 

  • You are a member of the UDE and responsible for submitting the article as corresponding author
  • The University of Duisburg Essen or the University Hospital must be specified as the first affiliation
  • Eligible article types:
    • In Gold Open Access journals: Original Papers, Review Papers, Brief Communications
    • In hybrid journals additionally: Editorial Notes, Book Reviews, Letters, Reports
  • Articles with non-scientific content in open access journals are not part of this agreement

 

 Content

  • approx. 2,800 journals, including BioMedCentral and further imprints
  • List of journals (included and not included)
  • Exception: In the case of specialist journals (Facharzt-Zeitschriften), only Research Articles are eligible for funding

 CC licences

  • The DEAL Konsortium recommends the use of the Creative Commons licence CC BY, which provides the greatest possibility of reuse for your work. The less restrictive Creative Commons licences CC BY or CC BY-SA are also recommended in the UDE Open Access Policy
