Currently, around 60 (post)doctoral researchers from different faculties (Chemistry, Biology and Engineering) and university (University of Duisburg-Essen, the Ruhr University Bochum, University Kiel) are members of the WGS. All of these (post)doctoral researchers are distributed within the three CARs water quality, biodiversity and urban water cycle.

All universities and intuitions involved in the WGS have a long history and many experiences in water research and in preparing early career scientists for their future career. By combining the expertise of the ZWU network within the WGS a structured program can be offered to all members that prepares them to be excellent early career scientists with a wide knowledge and experiences. Members from different scientific levels are part of the WGS and can take advantage of the wide program which is offered in terms of workshops, seminars, colloquia etc. and can be individually combined by each member.
