Young Scientist Award
Awarding of the Young Talent Promotion PrizeYoung Scientist Award 2025
For the seventeenth time, the Centre for Water and Environmental Research (ZWU) is awarding the Young Scientist Award (YSA) for outstanding students and young scientists in the field of water and environmental research.
The prize is awarded to theses (master/magister/diploma/state examination) and dissertations that were completed at the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2024. Applicants working in any scientific field are eligible. However, proposals should be directly linked to the activities of the ZWU. Work that was completed at external institutions (e.g. at institutes affiliated with the UDE or partner universities) is also permitted as long as the degree was completed at the UDE or as part of a cooperative ZWU project.
The nominations can be submitted by habilitated members as well as junior professors, authorized ZWU members and supervisors. Eligible nominating members may nominate one candidate per category.
The following documents have to be submitted in electronic form to the ZWU office by January 15, 2025:
- Thesis
- Maximum two-page summary of the work (1-2 DIN A4 pages)
- CV in tabular form
- List of publications
- Examination certificate and doctoral certificate (if applicable)
- Copies of the scientific appraisal established for the theses/dissertation
- Individual nominator evaluation report
The ZWU office forwards the applications to the selection committee (see statute paragraph 6 in the appendix).
Three prizes are awarded for outstanding master's/magister's/diploma and state examination theses, as well as two prizes for dissertations.
The YSA is awarded once a year. The award ceremony is expected to take place during the UDE Summer Festival.
We are looking forward to many applications!
