About us: The area Vocational Education and Training Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen

The area with the chairholder Prof. Dr. Dieter Münk is part of the Institute for Vocational Education and Training (IBW) at the Faculty of Educational Sciences at University Duisburg-Essen.
In teaching the IBW is responsible for the vocational educational training of teachers for vocational schools as well as for other educational bachelor and master degree courses, also including extra-occupational master programs.

We conduct theoretical and empirical research, both self-financed and third-party funded.
In recent years, we have accomplished numerous national and international thrid-party projects (for example a contribution to Cedefop's fourth research report).

Our cooperation partners include national and international institutional players form public institutions (Tongji-University Shanghai, Cedefop, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training in Germany) as well as form the private sector of the economy (GTZ, Franzfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Deutsche Bank).
We are linked with a variety of regional and nationwide actors (for example vocational schools, social partners and organizations) via regular lecture and consulting services.
