Social Policy Working Group
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Simone Leiber, working group members research and teach at the intersection of social policy and social work. Research here focuses on the change, impact, and evolution of the welfare state. In addition to Europeanization processes of social security, global dynamics of social policy as well as social work representation of socially disadvantaged people in the welfare state are analyzed.
Current research projects encompass two main themes:
- One focus lies on comparing long-term care systems worldwide.
- The working group furthermore concentrates on the policy practice of social work actors. This comprises the role of social work as an advocate for marginalized interests as well as a politically decisive force in welfare state change processes.
