Dr. Josef Pauli ist Professor für Informatik und leitet seit Dezember 2004 an der Universität Duisburg-Essen in der Fakultät für Ingenieurwissenschaften das Fachgebiet Intelligente Systeme. Zuvor war er Abteilungsleiter am Fraunhofer Institut für Informations- und Datenverarbeitung in Karlsruhe. Seine Habilitation erfolgte an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel mit dem Thema „Learning-Based Robot Vision“ und seine Promotion an der Technischen Universität München mit dem Thema „Erklärungsbasiertes Computer-Sehen von Bildfolgen“.

  • Die Forschungsinteressen umfassen Bild- und Bildfolgenanalyse, Kognitive Robotersysteme, Lernen mit tiefen, neuronalen Netzen.
  • Aktuelle Anwendungsgebiete sind Bildverarbeitung für die Medizintechnik, Bild- und hyper-spektrale Datenanalyse für die Oberflächeninspektion, Tiefes, neuronales Lernen in der Partikelmesstechnik, Roboternavigation in hochdynamischen Umgebungen.
