Who we are Contextual profile

As far as possible, all well-founded, sound areas of the UDE educational areas in the UDE Educational Research on the level of the education system, educational institutions, professional and extraprofessioal teaching and learning processes and their results, extracurricular educational and socialization processes  under consideration of social, historically grown structures and of normative questions on education are to be considered.

Thus, research in the field Educational Research takes place in various forms at the UDE:

• School and teaching research
• Extracurricular educational research
• Research on professionalization
• Educational research over the lifespan

In these areas, thematic fields can be further identified which are worked on by different operators of educational research at the UDE (partially in cooperation), e.g. in the fields MINT, language tuition, New Media/E-Learning, political education. Such possible profile-enhancing subject clusters can be identified in the new Centre of Educational Research and be made visible to the outside world.

Same as other, individually treated fields, which stand for the versatility and wide range of Educational Research at the University Duisburg-Essen.

Our particular concern Support of young scientists

Dissertations and habilitations make an important contribution to the further development of Educational Research. For this reason, the promotion of young scientists is one of our particular concerns. We therefore offer methodological  workshops in the field qualitative and empirical educational research in order to lay the foundation for successful scientific work. For further scientific success, we offer workshops on strategies for publication and coaching with regard to applications, so that the young scientists learn how to succeed in research practice.
Furthermore, we support them with initial financing for preparing project applications
