Summary

The aim of this project is to develop mechanistic mathematical models for simulating radiation-induced immune responses (RIIR). These models will be used to quantitatively test biological hypotheses under fully controlled conditions with negligible costs in time, material resources, and animal lives. They will be generic multi-scale hybrid models, that integrate heterogeneous components and interactions in molecular and cellular levels to explain RIIR processes and dynamics. Specifically we will collaborate with project P3 to develop a hybrid IBM-QSP computational mouse model by incorporating the relevant mechanisms of spatiotemporal dynamics of RIT-mediated immunomodulation in PDAC, at the tumor and systemic level.  Our long-term goal is to understand the main factors that influence RIIR, and to find molecular and cellular biomarkers of RIIR-related RT outcomes with the potential of clinical translation.
