GraviMoKo

Effect of gravitational changes on motor function and cognition (GraviMoKo)

The GraviMoKo project will analyse how micro and hyper-gravity affect motor learning as well as cognitive and stress states at the level of biological signals, in particular electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) as well as heart rate variability (HRV). It will be investigated how motor and cognitive states influence each other. In order to shed light on this question, microgravity will be simulated using an exoskeleton, both to investigate motor learning processes and to evaluate the interaction at the level of cognitive stress states. In a second step, it will be assessed whether the movement sequences trained under simulated microgravity can be transferred to real microgravity induced by parabolic flights and whether this motor training can also reduce cognitive stress states. A parabolic flight was done in spring 2024.
