Overview

The Digital Twin Project aims to discover new ways how to access, control and manage Internet of Things (IoT) systems with the usage of Virtual Reality (VR). Due to the growing complexity of IoT systems with its increasing number of sensors and actuators distributed over possibly large areas it becomes to complex to handle this problem through traditional twodimensional user interfaces. With VR and it's deep immersion, it allows users to even walk around and interact with a virtual environment in a very intuitiv manner. One of the biggest potentials for the Digital Twin Project is in controlling large industrial areas, where physically inspecting all of it is not a feasible solution, and with that significantly advancing Industry 4.0.
