Project PRIVATAR
Privacy-friendly mobile avatar for ill school children
Project goal
The PRIVATAR project aims to enable acutely and chronically ill schoolchildren to participate in everyday school life using telepresence robots while protecting the privacy of all those involved. By developing innovative, user-friendly and individually configurable interaction solutions, it is intended to give users more control over their privacy. Various dimensions of privacy are taken into account in the research project. At the same time, it is being investigated how the functions of the telepresence robots can be guaranteed with less data, for example by reducing the number of sensors.
To date, there is no telepresence robot solution that makes the various dimensions of privacy controllable with configurable and data-saving mechanisms.
Task and role of the Interactive Systems working group
As part of the project, the Interactive Systems working group is responsible for analyzing the requirements for the privacy-friendly telepresence robot and for testing the solutions developed. The focus is particularly on the user-centered mechanisms designed to protect the physical and social privacy of all participants. In the course of the project, the working group is also significantly involved in the evaluation of the developed demonstrators.
The research project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research via the "Privacy" platform.
