Dr. Antje Baumann

Antje Baumann holds a teaching position (Studienrätin im Hochschuldienst) at UDE covering both EFL Education and German Language and Literature Education.

She studied English, German and Music to become a teacher in secondary education in Cologne, including a year abroad at Trinity College, Dublin on a DAAD scholarship. After completing her teacher training (Zweites Staatsexamen) in 2002, she spent two years teaching German as a Foreign Language in Russia before moving back to Germany to work at a comprehensive school in Bonn (2004-2009).

Her academic interests then took her to Wuppertal University, where she taught from 2009-2015 (Lehrkraft für besondere Aufgaben), while also carrying out a research project on singing with pre-school children as a means of enhancing their language skills (PhD, PH Freiburg, 2018). After her position at Wuppertal University, she changed to Kommunales Integrationszentrum Essen, where she coordinated a project easing children’s transition into primary school, and then to Kommunales Integrationszentrum Duisburg, where her focus lay on qualifying and advising freelancers working with newly immigrated pupils and their families. From 2021 to 2024, Antje Baumann worked at Landesstelle Schulische Integration in Dortmund, qualifying and advising teachers in matters of writing fluency, writing strategies, multilingualism and German as a Second Language.

In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing the violin and learning how to play the organ.
