Supervision of Bachelor Thesis
Bachelor Thesis in EFL Education?
Winter term 2024:
The application procedure has ended (13 August – 13 September).
How to apply for a Bachelor thesis supervisor in EFL education
The EFL education team uses a centralised and standardised procedure for allocating BA theses supervisors per semester.
For finding your BA thesis supervisor in EFL education in the winter term of 2024/25, follow this procedure:
- Fill in the application form below. This application procedure is open from 13th of August – 13th of September. The form will close once this period has passed; a later registration for writing your BA thesis in the winter term of 2024/25 will not be possible.
- The information you need to provide include your student details, previous course participation, a preferred first EFL supervisor and an alternative supervisor, a current transcript of records, and a short 200-word draft of your BA thesis project in EFL education. The latter should consist of a short introduction to the topic, a research question, and the overarching aim of your project.
- After registering on this page, you will be allocated to a supervisor depending on available capacities. You will receive confirmation of your supervision and the name of your supervisor via e-mail by the 30th of September. You will be asked to accept (or decline) this offer by 15th of October at the very latest.
- Should you accept the supervision offered to you by the EFL team, you must complete your BA thesis during the winter term of 2024. It is not possible to transfer your supervision agreement to a future semester. In case you decided to postpone writing your BA thesis to a later term, you will need to reapply. Your supervisor will make sure that the official registration of your BA thesis with the Prüfungsamt takes place on time.
- Please ensure that you fulfil the formal requirements to register and complete your BA thesis in the winter term 2024/2025.
With this procedure in place, we would kindly ask you to refrain from contacting EFL lecturers individually to request BA supervision. Given the high demand for supervision of BA theses in EFL Education, we also recommend that you consider writing your BA thesis in your second subject or pedagogy, or reach out to other available supervisors within Anglophone Studies, in case you are seeking a supervision for the winter term of 2024/25.
For the next summer semester (i.e. for summer 2025), the allocation procedure will re-open towards the end of the lecture period of the winter semester. Please follow all upcoming information that will be shared here.
