Duisburg-Essen UL is an academic universal library.
Our literature stocks are mainly freely accessible in six branch libraries.
Our stocks
How large are the stocks?
- about 2,3 million printed volumes,
- about 700.000 e-books,
- about 900 current print journals and
- about 40.000 electronic journals.
How are the stocks arranged?
Our stocks are systematically arranged by subject in the branch libraries and are freely accessible.
An overview of the arrangement system can be found on the information boards on the shelves.
How do I search?
Our stocks are listed in our Primo catalogue with self-service functions (renewals, reservations etc.).
You can access your library account via Primo and, among other things, independently renew loans and place reservations.
Structure of our shelfmarks
Shelfmark:
Location marks:
The structure of the shelfmarks is the same in all branch libraries.
The letters D and E indicate the respective locations in Duisburg or Essen.
Generally applies:
"odd location mark" = borrowable media, e.g. D01/E11
"even location mark" = non borrowable media, e.g. D00/E14.
Journal shelfmark:
Duisburg magazines up to 1980 may contain the letters A to Z.
