Nutzung von Digitalisierungspotenzialen in der Englischlehrerbildung (Potentials of Digitalization in EFL Teacher Education)
In the light of digitalisation, aspiring teachers face the challenge of integrating digital tools in the EFL classroom. This project addresses this issue by providing students with the resources to develop new ideas for TEFL in the digital era. To achieve this, the EFL Lab has been completely redesigned and equipped with a broad range of digital tools (e.g. interactive whiteboards, notebooks, tablets, document cameras, interactive read-along touch pens, …). Movable furniture and devices make it possible to adapt the EFL Lab flexibly according to the needs of different groups of learners and forms of activities. The new EFL Lab serves as a testbed for students and in-service EFL teachers as well as teacher educators to explore the potentials of digital technology EFL education. Novice and seasoned EFL teachers collaborate to exchange and reflect on their hands-on experiences with digital tools. The overarching objective of the project is to provide student EFL teachers at the University of Duisburg-Essen with a variety of apt learning opportunities and, thus, ultimately educate digitally proficient EFL teachers.
Here is an interview that provides more information on the project.
