Yasamin Habib
Yasamin Habib studied English, German as well as German as a Second and Foreign Language at the University of Duisburg-Essen and Macquarie University in Sydney (Australia). During her time as a student, she also spent half a year abroad working as a Comenius Language Assistant at two primary schools in England. Apart from that, she was working as a student assistant at the Department of German as a Second and Foreign Language and as a tutor at the Department of Educational Sciences. After completing her first state examination (Erstes Staatsexamen), she carried out her teacher training in a bilingual primary school. Since achieving her second state examination (Zweites Staatsexamen) in 2015, she has been working as a primary school teacher at the Albrecht-Brinkmann-Grundschule in Dortmund.
Before joining the EFL Education team at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Yasamin Habib has been a research assistant at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, where she has been involved in the PiPE-project (Progress in Primary Englisch Teacher Education) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Her main research interests include early foreign language learning and teaching, second language acquisition, bilingualism, bilingual education as well (primary) EFL teacher education. In her PhD project, she focuses on bilingual science teaching and learning at the primary level and investigates young learners’ use of academic language.
