Didaktische Konzepte zur Einbindung von AR in Bildungsszenarien

  • Faculty of Educational Sciencees, Institute of Sport and Movement Sciences
  • Contact person: Micha Gittinger
  • Funding period: January 2023 - June 2023

Content: As part of several parallel master's seminars in educational sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen in the winter semester 2022/2023, students will independently design augmented reality (AR) learning applications in project work against the background of a didactic framework, implement them technically by the Centre for Information and Media Services (ZIM) at the University of Duisburg-Essen and then test and evaluate them. The experiences gained in this process are reflected on by the students and related to theoretical framework models of teaching and learning with digital media.

In order to make the students' work available beyond the seminar and to make it usable and valuable for future educational scenarios, the developed didactic concepts and technical solutions (AR learning applications) are to be categorised, processed and made available as OER resources for further use.

Faculty of Humanities

Studierende und (ihre) FamiliensprachenStudierende und (ihre) Familiensprachen

Content: Language is an important topic for multilingual families and those who are in close contact with them - also for prospective teachers, whether multilingual themselves or not. UDE teacher training students often grew up in multilingual families themselves, but do not always find this specific topic addressed as part of their training. We are therefore planning the further development or adaptation of materials that were created as part of the RUEG research group Grammatical dynamics in language contact: a comparative approach (duration May 2021 - April 2024) for students. This is done with a particular focus on the possibility of taking them into the traineeship or school practice and thus acting as multipliers. This includes publishing the materials on a suitable platform (digill.de) or on www.ruegram.de (CC BY-NC licence) The materials themselves include videos, audios, presentation elements and information texts, which should be made available in several languages or with subtitles. The materials are organized thematically into five modules: Knowledge about languages, current research results, personal experiences with multilingualism, myths and citizen science.

"Wissenschaftliches Schreiben in spanischer Sprache: Das Verfassen einer Forschungsarbeit" / "Escritura académica en lengua española: cómo redactar un trabajo de investigación"

  • Faculty of Humanities, Institute of Romance Languages and Literatures
  • Contact person: Dr. Emma García Sanz
  • Funding period: August 2022 – January 2023

  • Faculty of Humanities, Institute for Primary Social and Science Education
  • Contact person: Prof. Dr. Inga Gryl
  • Funding period: April 2023 – September 2023

Content: Unfortunately, there has been little open educational material for astronomy in elementary school to date, but the AstrOER project aims to change that! As part of the project, OER materials are being developed around the research work of the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA for short). The material is intended to make it easier for students and teachers to get started with the topic of astronomy and will be made available free of charge and for their own further development.

Grimmwelten - Quellen und Adaptionen der "Kinder- und Hausmärchen" der Brüder Grimm

  • Faculty of Humanities, Institute for German Studies
  • Contact person: PD Dr. Simone Loleit, Dr. Liane Schüller
  • Persons involved: Celina Büser M.Ed., Veronique Bläske
  • Funding period: July 2023 – December 2023

Content: The project "Grimmwelten - Quellen und Adaptionen der 'Kinder- und Hausmärchen' der Brüder Grimm (GrimmQA)" is dedicated to the "Kinder- und Hausmärchen" by the Brothers Grimm in a multi-perspective combination of approaches from the Germanic sub-disciplines of medieval studies, literary didactics and modern literary studies. As a teaching project, it combines the concept of research-based learning with the idea of learning through teaching. The objects of investigation are the versions of the Grimm fairy tales, their sources and models, literary and intermedial adaptations of the fairy tales as well as contextual knowledge about the Brothers Grimm. The focus is on ways of didactically preparing the entire subject area for school, university teaching and independent study. To this end, a permanent Moodle course room is being developed - for use by students and teachers alike - which will provide knowledge and didactically prepared materials relating to fairy tales, their sources and adaptations. As part of the OER funding phase, the Moodle course room is to be prepared for publication as an open educational resource.

  • Funding period: October 2022 – March 2023

Content: The subject-specific method wiki contains method sheets and teaching suggestions with working material created by students in project seminars. The material is supplemented with references to further literature. The contents are available in digital form and can be used for both seminars and practical phases.

Magische Flucht digital

  • Faculty of Humanities, Institute for German Studies
  • Contact person: PD Dr. Simone Loleit, Dr. Liane Schüller
  • Persons involved: Veronique Bläske B.A., Caesy Stuck B.A., Lea Evers
  • Funding period: August 2024 – January 2025

Content: The project focuses on European and non-European references to Grimm's fairy tales, which are linked by the motif of the 'magical escape' and in which patterns of action of being persecuted, fleeing and transformation play a central role. The (teaching) material developed with students in subject-networking seminars is prepared digitally and made available as OER via Moodle.

Funding programmes at UDE

OER funding from the University Library (financed from Rectorate funds)

True to its guiding principle "Open in thinking", the University of Duisburg-Essen supports the free exchange of digital educational materials - also known as Open Educational Resources or OER - in the teaching community.

In line with the United Nations' education agenda, UDE sees the promotion of open educational materials as an important contribution to the inclusive and equitable organisation of education and lifelong learning for all people.

DataCampus

The establishing of the DataCampus UDE aims to initiate a university-wide development process to anchor data skills in all subjects.

The project measure "Share your Data" explicitly addresses the creation and publication of OERs: The focus is on the possibility of reusing introductory lessons, data sets and existing analyses in other events and settings in order to make it easier for other interested parties to get started with the topic. The OERs created in the project will be made available on the ORCA.nrw portal at the end of the project in 2022.
