Fire Safety Regulations for the Essen campus

Every member of the University is obliged to contribute to fire prevention and control – to do so, they must know what the correct behaviour is and what is to be done in case of an emergency. Visitors and contractors also have to play their part.

To allow everyone to inform themselves about the overall conditions and defined measures, both are described in the Fire Safety Regulations for the Essen campus and the Duisburg campus.

Fire Safety Regulations – Part A

The Fire Safety Regulations – Part A provide the individuals on the respective campus with a brief overview of how they can prevent fires and how to behave in case of a fire. The relevant steps are described in the further information column under ‘Conduct in case of fire’.

Fire Safety Regulations – Part B

The Fire Safety Regulations – Part B provides staff and students with detailed information about the following topics:

  • Fire prevention
  • Spread of fire and smoke
  • Escape and rescue routes
  • Alarm systems and firefighting equipment
  • Conduct in case of a fire
  • Reporting a fire
  • Taking heed of alarm signals and instructions
  • Getting to safety
  • Trying to extinguish the fire
