Professor Dr. rer. nat. Florian Coulmas
has been awarded the Meyer-Struckmann Prize.
The East Asia scientist Prof. Dr. Florian Coulmas of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) has received the Meyer-Struckmann Prize for humanities and social-sciences research worth 20,000 euros.
The Meyer-Struckmann Prize is awarded by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Dusseldorf and the Meyer-Struckmann Foundation.
Two CENIDE young scientists
were awarded this year’s Sparkasse Duisburg Prize.
No fewer than two CENIDE young scientists, Dr.-Ing. Danka Dittmer Gobeljic and Amran Al Ashouri, were awarded this year’s Sparkasse Duisburg Prize for their outstanding achievements.

Prof. Dr. Ferdi Schüth
receives an honorary doctorate from the Technical University of Munich.
The Technical University of Munich has awarded an honorary doctorate to Prof. Ferdi Schüth, director of the Mülheim-based Max Planck Institute for Coal Research and member of the CENIDE Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen. The award was presented during the opening of the Central Institute for Catalysis Research.

Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wolf
receives an honorary doctorate from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Physicist Prof. Dr. Dietrich Wolf has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. In 30 years of joint research with eleven colleagues in Budapest, he has published 55 scientific articles.
The research topics have included growth processes, granular matter, rheology, friction, and electrical transport in molecules and nanostructures. For the past five years, a partnership has existed between our two universities under which many students from the Energy Science degree programme have spent a year abroad at the university in Budapest.
Professor Dr. rer. nat. Bernhard Horsthemke
received the Medal of Honour from the German Society of Human Genetics.
Professor Dr. rer. nat. Bernhard Horsthemke, director of the Institute of Human Genetics at the University Hospital (UK) Essen, received the Medal of Honour from the German Society of Human Genetics. He was awarded the medal for his outstanding scientific achievements and involvement in the field of human genetics.
