Since 2019, IN-EAST had to cancel plans to hold its annual graduation ceremony three times because of Covid-19. On July 11, 2022, however, the Institute dared to invite its graduates to celebrate – albeit on a smaller scale. BA- and MA graduates gathered on campus, enjoyed beautiful unplugged music by Tugba (vocals) & Trenton (acoustic guitar), and their very own moment in the spotlight as they were called out for their academic achievements and handed their certificates.

But there was more: After more than 20 years as the IN-EAST’s Chinese Language instructor Lun Du said good-bye. Honored in a special speech by Professor Thomas Heberer, Lun Du reflected on the many students he had taught over the years and how he enjoyed seeing mastering Mandarin. Lun Du retired at the end of 2022 and left a grateful Institute, cohorts of students, but also a very motivated successor behind: Zheng Duanzhuang joined IN-EAST on August 1, 2022. 欢迎!
