The Project

In my doctoral research, I investigate the experiences of people who experience discrimination and/or privileges due to personal characteristics (e.g. disability, chronic illness, origin, gender, ...). I want to find out how you feel in social interactions and what positive or negative things you have already experienced. At the same time, I am interested in how these experiences differ, for example depending on which school you went to, where you live, or similar. This means that I don't want to focus exclusively on one characteristic, but that I am interested in different characteristics and experiences in their interaction.

I would be delighted if you agreed to an interview with me! The interview lasts about 1.5 hours and you decide for yourself what and how much you want to tell me. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and safe during our conversation. If required, interpreters are available. As soon as I evaluate the interviews, I change personal details as well as your name so that you remain anonymous and not one finds out who you are. Concerning this, you will receive a written private policy from me.

About the researcher

My name is Hannah Kröll (she/her) and I work as a doctoral research at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen. I have already investigated experiences of discrimination in my Bachelor's and Master's theses. In my research, it is important to me to make experiences visible that are less talked about in public discourse. The aim is to sensitize politicians, institutions, and individuals to these experiences and to work towards reducing discrimination in the long term.
